Welcome
Hi there! My name is Jennifer Gawne. I am a proud ACOS alumna and pleased to be the administrator of the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences. I am a TCM herbalist, teacher, foodie and lover of life.
This blog was originally suggested by an ACOS graduate, Elizabeth Nachtwey, R.Ac., who felt we needed a way to keep all our graduates connected and keep us informed of the amazing things ACOS grads do.
So here it is, the ACOS blog. I hope this blog will provide an opportunity to mentor each other, exchange information on exciting treatment methods you have tried or to post a question about a difficult case.
As a graduate of the academy myself, I am proud of all of the alumni and the careers you have created for yourselves.
Feel free to leave comments and be sure to check out our ACOS Facebook group or follow me on Twitter.
If you would like to share what is going on in your world please send me your stories and photos and I will post your adventures on line. Your contributions may be quoted in full or excerpted to fit our site but otherwise it will be pure, un-distilled you!
A recent graduate suggested we create an alumni fund to fill the library, create bursaries for current students and help purchase new equipment for the school. So, we’ve done it! Should you find it in your heart to donate money to the ‘ACOS Alumni Fund’ please send a check our way, made payable to ACOS and specify that it is for the ‘ACOS Alumni Fund’. We will send you back a tax receipt and lovingly acknowledge your contribution and let you know what the funds went towards.
We look forward to hearing from you and hope you are happy and whole and healing others.

Wu Yan and Warren Fischer look at TCM treatments for a wide range of common and more difficult problems, such as: palpitations, eczema, gangrene, depression,
epilepsy, tinnitus and deafness, myopia, abdominal pain, jaundice, menopausal disorder, lower back pain, headache, insomnia, dysentery,
measles, mumps, morning sickness, and many more. Material is structured in such a way as to be easily accessed in clinical situations, and to
aid decision-making. This textbook is used throughout the school program at ACOS and is a valuable resource once you are practicing. $84.50 CDN

Hello Dr Warren,
Greetings from Australia. I am writing to you for an urgent call for help!
My wife, Barbara, a Canadian citizen now living in Australia, has suffered very painful migraines every 3 to 6 weeks, for a period of 24 years now. We have attended many, many western medical clinics to no avail.
She used to attend your clinic in Victoria, BC, almost every week in 1994, ‘95, and part of ‘96, and said that your acupuncture treatment was the only drug-free treatment that ever worked well. She remembers being given needles in her stomach area, her head, and over the rest of her body.
She has been treated by 5 different acupuncturists in Australia, but none of them have really worked for her.
Can you recommend either a TCM practitioner in Australia who uses your techniques, or perhaps even the same treatment? We live in Albury, about halfway between Sydney and Melbourne, but will travel for treatment if needed.
We are at wits end with her migraine and stomach pain.
Please help us. She is in especially great pain today, almost unable to move.
Warmest regards,
Nick Pecze and Barbara Sauder.
P.S. Barbara, you may recall, has 2 sons, Will and Keegan. Keegan also attended your clinic many years ago. He finally reached his goal of becoming a professional skateboarder a few weeks ago!
Hello Nick and Barbara,
Thank you for being in touch. We do not have any graduates currently working in Australia but by a nice twist of fate one of our recent grads is in the process of returning to her home land of Australia. I will forward her your email address so she can be in touch once she is settled and practicing.
Best wishes finding Barbara the help she needs.
Kind regards,
Jennifer Gawne
