Summer of Learning At ACOS

May 15, 2013

Summer is a lovely time to be in the garden, play in the sun and put your toes in the lake but it is also a great time to take some continuing education courses that interest you or upgrade your Chinese Medicine knowledge.

The Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences is offering a ’summer of learning’ with different short workshops each month. If you are interested in enrolling in any of these courses call us at 250-352-5887 or email acos@acos.org

Here is a list of the courses being offered this summer at the Academy.

Finally! A visual way to understand the pulse and use it productively in a clinical setting.

Orthopedic Tuina July 13th and 14th

Shhhh…don’t tell anyone but this course will illuminate the ancient methods of bone setting and clarify our undertading of what bone and tissue really are and how to mend them when injured. While practical information for students of Chinese Medicine this information would also be interesting to students of martial arts. This course will include lecture, visual aids and hands on learning.

Treating Addictions with TCM July 27th

Saturday 10am-2pm

This one-day continuing education workshop will focus on holistic addictions treatment.

Randy Lyons is a doctor of oriental medicine and creator of the Holistic Addiction Program (HAP) that integrates TCM zang fu theory, 5 phase theory, shamanism, acupuncture, and group treatment. Randy implements the “HAP” in various treatment centers and also teaches it in practitioner trainings in the states. He is also just really charismatic. This workshop will be fun, experiential and a little avant guard (and definitely NOT dry, mundane or lecture-based).

April is a special time of year here at ACOS…the snow has melted, trees are starting to bloom, students finish up the hard work of the winter semester and we get to celebrate the accomplishments of the class graduating from their ACOS programs.

This past Saturday we celebrated the class of 2012-13.   Congratulations to you all!!
